Good Fat – The Macadamia Nut Fat Fast

I have done a couple of you tube vlogs when I have done  what I call the “mac nut fast.”

I can always tell when someone else must have mentioned my vlog on maybe their own vlog because I get a flux of questions.

I decided to do this post to help clarify and answer the most frequently asked questions.

Question:

I just came across your video on YouTube. I am a vegetarian. I would like to know more about your Mac Nut Fat fast day.

From the video what I understood was –
1. Eating 5 ounces of macadamia nuts (throughout the day) only. and water.. nothing else?
2. Do this for 3 days…and continue with regular vlcd?
3. Continue taking hcg drops?

I don’t have a gall bladder.

I’m a little scared about how this works? Won’t it increase fat percentage?

Thanks.

Answer:

The theory is that since you are taking in fat your body isn’t afraid to release fat that is the easiest way to explain it all.
You can have water, tea, coffee if you would like, I even drink the “cali-kickers” I like too (more about that when I do my post about lemon benefits).

I think lots of water is important to help flush out everything from the fat to the salt on the nuts. I do only mac nut because of the MCT benefits (see details below) and I don’t have to take time figuring out other foods and weighing them. Even though it doesn’t make any sense, this works whether you are on HCG or not. I didn’t believe it would work till I tried it myself.

Macadamia Nut Fast Explained –

I weigh 5 – one ounce servings and put each ounce serving in an individual snack sized Ziplock bag. – Equals 5 small bags. I added a picture to show what the nuts look on the scale. Many people ask how many nuts is one ounce. Since the nuts vary in size that is hard to use as a barometer. Even weighing exactly one ounce is tricky so many times as long as one bag is 98.5 and the next one is a little over 100 I’m not going to sweat it.

Personally I try to don’t dive into the first serving until the afternoon. Of course the better will power you have it would be better to “graze” on the nuts ever so slowly through out the day to keep your body’s “furnace” burning.

The Fat Fast is one controlled carb program where you do have to count calories. You’ll eat 1,000 calories a day, with 75 percent to 90 percent comprised of fat. Frequent feedings prevent hunger better than three meals a day, so you consume five feedings, perhaps one every four hours, comprising 200 calories each. Because of the high fat content and frequent feedings, very few people experience much hunger. The stumbling block for some people is the absence of conventional meals. But most are willing to stick with it for a few days, even if the food selections are unfulfilling.

Why I choose the Macadamia Nut for my FAT FAST food of choice:

Benefits of MCT Oil

Medium-Chain Triglycerides (MCT) oils are a special class of fats that are digested and handled by the body in a different way than most fats. Most fats are long-chain triglycerides which are difficult to process, so the body prefers to store them in fat cells.

MCT oils are absorbed in the bloodstream, passing the digestion process that longer chain fats go through. MCT oil provides quick energy for the body and therefore is less likely to be stored as body fat. MCTs are such an easy source of fuel, they are even more likely to be burned off than low-fat fare. When MCT is metabolized in the body, it behaves like a carbohydrate not a fat.

Unlike other fats, it does not go through the lymphatic system. Instead, it is transported directly to the liver where it is metabolized and released like a carbohydrate and then is used for fuel. MCT has a thermogenic effect in the body, helping you to stay slim by keeping your body fat levels down while keeping energy levels up. MCT oil is easily absorbed by the body and is therefore ideal for individuals with digestive problems. For those with Crohn’s and irritable bowel syndrome, the healing effects of MCT oil could be beneficial. MCT promotes intestinal health by killing troublesome microorganisms that may cause chronic inflammation.

Diabetics could benefit from using MCT oil as it helps to regulate blood sugar levels. Supplementation of MCT oil began as a fat source to help treat diseases such as cystic fibrosis, obesity and fat malabsorption. Bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts have used MCT for its fat burning and energy-sustaining powers. It has been found that MCTs burn three times more calories for six hours after a meal than other fats. It is thought that MCTs stimulate production of thyroid hormone, improving thyroid function boosting metabolism.

Athletes benefit from the use of MCT oil for both weight gain and weight loss. Bodybuilders must consume incredible volumes of food to put on size. We have found that adding MCT oil to their diets is an easy way to increase the caloric intake of their food without increasing the volume that they must eat. Since MCT acts like a carbohydrate and not a fat, athletes do not increase their body fat percentages while increasing their calories with this product. Since MCTs are thermogenic, not only are athletes increasing their muscle mass, but they are decreasing their fat percentages at the same time. We have put champion bodybuilders on stage consuming as much as 2000 calories from MCT oil starting 16 weeks from show day and continuing right up to contest day. These athletes have competed at body fat percentages of less than 2% and still maintained a healthy appearance. MCTs help to add flavor to the food that bodybuilders consume. The bodybuilding diet is know to be quite bland, adding MCT to rice and tuna helps to make it quite palatable.

MCT oil is beneficial for any individual who wishes to gain or lose weight, maintain a healthy immune system or maintain constant blood sugar levels. We have used MCTs since the late 1980’s with our high performance athletes. We feel this product has given our athletes an advantage in weight loss over other competitors. It is just now becoming more popular with the general public as a very valuable product for health and weight loss. The athlete’s secret has now become public knowledge. We highly recommend the use of this product for continued good health.

**A warning about the fat fast **
I want to point out two things about this “trick”.
You must go back to strict protocol after doing this (if on P2) or eat super clean afterward (P3&4) to give your body the time to adjust to the flux that just happened to  it.

Basically giving you body a chance to be o.k. with the sudden release and not try to go back to the weight it was before.

The other warning is  – Don’t do this for long, I would say 3 days MAX. I no longer have a gallbladder but those of you that do, the increase of fats in your system could aggravate the gallbladder and cause problems. Quite simply, you certainly don’t want that.

Caution: The Fat Fast is actually dangerous for anyone who is not metabolically resistant. For people who lose weight fairly easily, the rate of weight loss is too rapid to be safe. But it carries very little risk for people who can barely lose on any other regimen.

HCG Question of the Day-Broccoli and Coconut oil?

Can You Eat Broccoli and Coconut Oil on P2???

QUESTION:

My wife is doing this diet and she is on day 24 and has lost 16lbs. She had read on some other site that your not supposed to eat Broccoli during phase 2. Is that true? And also when can you use coconut oil? We are seeing mixed things on coconut oil that it can make you stall.

ANSWER:

Hi,
First off I would like to commend you on being a good support for your wife, and congrats on her success so far!
Now here is the confusion with the protocol. The original manuscript did not include broccoli or coconut oil. During the time I did my rounds I did not eat broccoli even though I do like it. I didn’t do the coconut oil either. I did take MCT oil which has the benefits like coconut oil. I have seen coconut oil effect some HCGers very well yet others it will cause a stall or gain. So all I can say is if she REALLY wants it she should try it with caution, journal when she has it and log the results. That way she can see how it will work or not for her. Now back to the broccoli. I have heard some HCGers say they do a plan that also has an increased calorie count per day of 800 and it includes broccoli. So again if your wife really wants it, do same with journaling. That is the best way to identify a common thread with what works and what should be avoided.

How To Make Coconut Butter

Put unsweetened coconut in a strong blender, and blend and when you think it should be done blending , blend some more…wiping down the sides….. blend until almost  liquid consistency, and TA-DA –  you have coconut butter! You can add a little MCT oil if you want it spreadable.

HCG Questions Answered – Fat Releases,Hunger,Exercise,Expectations

HCG and Diet Tricks for other Diet Plans too!

A very sweet HCGer wrote –

Thanks so much for all this wonderful info. You are so amazing to take the time to share your experience, advice and recommendations for us fellow and newbie HCGers… I have a couple of questions for you since this is the first time I am doing this on my own.

Question – I have had good results of 11.6 lbs in 22 days… But here are my concerns maybe you can provide some insight on. I am doing injections 5000iu and started off at 150 but a week and 1/2 into it, I lowered it to 125. Some days I will do anywhere from 125-145… I will only slightly increase it if the day before I was a bit hungrier than I am comfortable with, or if my cravings are outa this world, so I have only done this about 3 times after starting 125. Um other than that? i am not sure what is going on.

My Answer – I think lowering to 125 was a good idea. The days you feel you need to increase I wonder why you don’t move up only by lets say 5 to 130. Spiking to 145 could very well be too much. You are mixing with 10 ml Bac water right?

As far as cravings – Have you tried other tricks instead of increasing your dose to cut the cravings or hunger pangs?

AVC/MCT drink shot
L-Glutamine (poured under the tongue)
Or even just ACV – Apple Cider Vinegar

Question – I was expecting a much bigger loss, although 11.6 is great! I am seeing WAY bigger losses for so many other people so I am getting a bit discouraged… =( and since I am doing about 30ish days,I was thinking about increasing to 46 days, but don’t know if it is worth it at the rate I am going…

My Answer – You haven’t said your start weight or your goal so if you don’t have a lot of abnormal fat the amount you have released in 22 days is awesome.

People talk about a pound or more a day. As we know women release less than men can. I know when I was expecting a pound a day, men on HCG would comment back that half a pound for women was more realistic. Darn those guys – Lol.

Question – I have also noticed my body losing inches, but not really around my tummy area, or upper arms which are the HUGEST problem areas for me. I only am noticing a great difference in my thighs, hips and buttocks, (mainly the last). Do you think this is normal? I am starting to think maybe my HCG is not potent or I may be doing something wrong…

My Answer – My arms were the last to show a significant loss in inches. Since Dr.S called his protocol “Pound & Inches” I bet you look as though you have lost 22 pounds as far as how much you have shrunk. Where you are losing first, have patience it will all proportion in the long run since this is all based on releasing the abnormal fat.

Question – I have cut out melba/grissini out and sometimes only eat one fruit. I am following Dr. S original protocol, so I do not know why these results seem to be “not normal” or fairly low… Do you think I may just have too high expectations?

My Answer – Early in my rounds I didn’t care about the grissini either and I would skip fruit a lot of times. BUT it wasn’t to try to increase my releases. I wasn’t hungry so I didn’t care about it.
If you are experiencing hunger you should at least add the fruit back in. Definitely keep your protein consumption, which is important.

Question – Also, what do you feel about exercising, like ab work and arm/leg toning? As for the exercise, I was going to the gym for about 3-4 weeks prior to beginning HCG… but cut it out when I started

My Answer – Since your body was use to the exercise then it stopped your body probably thought “what the heck happened?”. If it was me at this point I wouldn’t go full blown back into the routine you had been doing before (I don’t know what that was, cardio, weights etc). But start back to walking to get your heart going 😉

What you didn’t ask about but I want to add is –

Are you drinking the proper amount of water?

Here comes TMI – are your bowel movements consistent?

Have you done a Detox Bath?

When you eat your protein are you not consuming too much beef?
I mainly go for fish and chicken.
Steak was eaten if I decided to do a mini steak day. I use to like doing that one day a week during my rounds.
And are you sure that you are eating the correct veggies for P2 and also not mixing types of veggies.

The last question is for those that are using the original protocol.
I know there are variations floating out there. I need to still look into those further before I can have a “say” about them.

Journal what you are eating everyday and see if you can see a common thread. For example there are some HCGer’s that even though oranges are on P2 find that every time they decide to eat an orange they didn’t have a release or they might even have a slight gain. The argument I’ve heard is “an orange has the same calories as an apple”
But you know what? The 2 fruits do different things in and for your body.

Example – apples are a natural diuretic which is why Dr. Simeon came up with “apple day”. It wasn’t for the patient to release fat. It was so mentally the patient would “feel better” because they would see the scale numbers go down. It was simply water weight that made the difference. This is also why though we are suppose to drink plenty of water while on P2 – if we do an apple day he said to keep water consumption to a minimum.

Now remember everyone – I am not a Doctor, I am a fellow HCGer that likes helping others with their journey! 🙂

HCG Question – New to HCG and Have Questions Before I Start

HCG Question – New to HCG and have Questions Before I Start

I’m getting ready to begin my HCG journey the first of May. I’m so excited, yet at the same time I’m scared! Between your channel (loseit4ever), Mamaclok on You Tube, I’m getting a lot of information, and becoming more assured that I’m doing the right thing for my health.

I do have a few questions. I haven’t had a chance to go through very many of your vlogs, but can you tell me:

Question – Can I continue to take my blood pressure and water pill meds while on HCG?

Answer – When I started I was on thyroid medicine and was told I should stay on it. Always best to ask your doctor and Google if there are any interactions with combining.

Question – I also take melatonin to help with sleep.
MY Answer – I think Melatonin is good and fine while on HCG.

Question – And would you recommend a supplement for energy?
MY Answer – Many HCGers take B12. I take a lot of different supplements that also give me energy. But what I want to be sure is understood is that when on proper HCG the abnormal fat stores are being burned. Too many people only look at the 500 cal consumption and worry they will be weak and you won’t be. I wasn’t weak, lightheaded, none of that during my rounds.

Question – What do you recommend is best to eat during load days? I see Mamaclok ate donuts, but are there recommended “gorge” foods?
My Answer – Since that vlog I think Karen would agree better “gorge” choices are good fats. One successful HCGer loves to eat a big bowl of guacamole. I make sure I eat foods that I think I will “miss” once I’m on protocol. Mexican food and even though it has sugar, ice cream which is also high fat so the fat will slow the absorption rate of the sugar into my system.Other HCGers like to eat fatty meats as well.

Question – Is loose skin expected with hcg weight loss?
My Answer – The great thing about HCG is we release the fat quickly. The thing is then your skin needs to play “catch up”. If I had it to do over again I would have taken the MSM in mega doses as soon as I started HCG.

Question – I see where you were talking about the ACV/MSM cocktail shot – at what phase is this advisable?
My Answer – I came up with the ACV/MSM shot for P2ers.Even though I have done the ACV/ MCT during P2. Since MCT is a oil I prefer a new P2er doesn’t do that one until there a reason for going that direction.

Question –I currently take Perfect Food green powder mixed in water, because I don’t eat enough veggies. I’ve never checked the caloric content, though I guess it should be low, and fat free. Would you recommend continuing with it?

My Answer – You would have to let me know the ingredients. How many carbs or possible sugar does it have?

Question – Where did you purchase your hcg? (I plan on doing mine sublingually)
My Answer – I did injections but sublingual also uses RX HCG so you can still purchase from where I did if you want. I have ordered from 3 different places.

Reliable Pharmacy (reasonable prices and reliable;)
Pharmacy Escrow (1st place I ever ordered from)
All Day Chemist (tried them because other hcgers mentioned them a lot)

My Favorite  to order from

….um, did I say a few questions! Anyway, thank you so much for sharing your experience, encouragement, and advice. I look forward to – as my time allows- viewing more of your uploads.

MY Answer – LOL – no worries , I LOVE to HELP! 😉

Benefits of Coconut Oil – A Possible “friend” of HCG

HCG & Coconut Oil (you know, one of the ingredients in Chocolate Delight) 😉

Today I was asked Why Coconut Oil?

Answer –

The truth about coconut oil is obvious to anyone who has studied the health of those who live in native tropical cultures, where coconut has been a primary dietary staple for thousands of years.
Back in the 1930s, Dr. Weston Price found South Pacific Islanders whose diets were high in coconut to be healthy and trim, despite high dietary fat, and heart disease was virtually non-existent. Similarly, in 1981, researchers studying two Polynesian communities for whom coconut was the primary caloric energy source found them to have excellent cardiovascular health and fitness.

Where were all the clogged arteries and heart attacks from eating all of this “evil” saturated fat?
Obviously, coconut oil was doing nothing to harm the health of these islanders.
It may be surprising for you to learn that the naturally occurring saturated fat in coconut oil is actually good for you and provides a number of profound health benefits, such as:
• Improving your heart health
• Boosting your thyroid.
• Increasing your metabolism.
• Promoting a lean body and weight loss if needed.
• Supporting your immune system.

Coconut oil even benefits your skin when applied topically and has been found to have anti-aging, regenerative effects.

So, what are coconut oil’s secrets to success?

How Coconut Oil Works Wonders in Your Body
Nearly 50 percent of the fat in coconut oil is of a type rarely found in nature called lauric acid, a “miracle” compound because of its unique health promoting properties. Your body converts lauric acid into monolaurin, which has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-protozoa properties.

Coconut oil is also nature’s richest source of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), also called medium-chain triglycerides or MCTs. By contrast, most common vegetable or seed oils are comprised of long chain fatty acids (LCFAs), also known as long-chain triglycerides or LCTs.
LCTs are large molecules, so they are difficult for your body to break down and are predominantly stored as fat.
But MCTs , being smaller, are easily digested and immediately burned by your liver for energy — like carbohydrates, but without the insulin spike. MCTs actually boost your metabolism and help your body use fat for energy, as opposed to storing it, so it can actually help you become leaner.
Back in the 1940s, farmers discovered this effect accidentally when they tried using inexpensive coconut oil to fatten their livestock.
It didn’t work!
Instead, coconut oil made the animals lean, active and hungry.
Coconut oil has actually been shown to help optimize body weight, which can dramatically reduce your risk of developingType 2 diabetes . Besides weight loss, boosting your metabolic rate will improve your energy, accelerate healing and improve your overall immune function.
And several studies have now shown that MCTs can enhance physical or athletic performance.
And finally, as we have already discussed, coconut oil is incredibly good for your heart. The truth is this: it is unsaturated fats that are primarily involved in heart disease and too much sugar and processed foods, not the naturally occurring saturated fats, as you have been led to believe.

Coconut Oil in Your Kitchen

Polyunsaturated fats, which include common vegetable oils such as corn, soy, safflower, sunflower and canola, are absolutely the worst oils to cook with.

Why?
Three primary reasons:
1) Cooking your food in omega-6 vegetable oils produces a variety of very toxic chemicals, as well as forming trans-fats. Frying destroys the antioxidants in oil, actually oxidizing the oil, which causes even worse problems for your body than trans-fats.
2) Most vegetable oils are genetically modified including more than 90 percent of soy, corn and canola oils.
3) Vegetable oils contribute to the overabundance of damaged omega-6 fats in your diet, throwing off your omega 6 to omega 3 ratio. Nearly everyone in Western society consumes far too many omega-6 fats — about 100 times more than a century ago — and insufficient omega 3 fats, which contributes to numerous chronic degenerative diseases.

The Benefits of CLA and GLA

If you are on P2 you will want to proceed carefully with this choice or choose to wait till P3 with this recommendation but hear me out.

I heard about these two supplements early in my HCG journey when a fellow HCGer was recommending these 2 supplements for more consistent releasing.
She also pointed out that they are oil based so some people on P2 may not want to take them or should not take them if they find that for their system they are too sensitive to the oil in them.

As you might know I feel MCT is helpful and ok for when on P2 and the CLA/GLA has been the same great result for meas well. But again everyone’s system is different so adding the supplements needs to be an individual choice. Since using them I have seen HCGer’s post on facebook and vlog positive results from adding the 2 supplements when the wanted either better releases or help with a stall.

Here is more detailed information about the supplements health benefits

Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA): Nature’s most potent concentration of GLA in the form of borage seed oil

Gamma Linolenic Acid(GLA) is the result of the body’s first biochemical step in the transformation of the main essential fatty acid linoleic acid into important prostaglandins.
Prostaglandins are essential to the proper functioning of each cell, while essential fatty acids formed from GLA are required for each cell’s structure.
Nature’s most potent concentration of GLA comes in the form of borage seed oil (24%).
A great deal of scientific research has been conducted with supplements rich in Gamma Linolenic Acid, resulting in significant interest regarding health ailments, as well as those affected by pre-menstrual syndrome, benign breast disease, eczema, psoriasis, obesity, and vascular disorders.
The essential fatty acids combined here have proven to impart a regulatory function on the body’s fatty acid metabolism.
Fat metabolism is as important, if not more important, than our body’s metabolism of proteins and carbohydrates, as evidenced by the drastic rise in fat-related degenerative diseases, such as vascular disease and stroke.
Dietary essential fatty acids common to borage seed oil are ultimately converted to hormone-like substances known as prostaglandins,
Scientists continue to discover the regulating effects of prostaglandins.
Without the essential fatty acids, the building blocks of prostaglandins, a malfunction of fat metabolism is certain, as are problems in the regulation of the bodily functions listed above.
For some individuals, flax seed oil may offer only half of the solution.
Those deficient in co-factor nutrients, specifically the vitamins pro-A, A, C, E, B2, B6, pantothenic acid, B12, biotin, and the minerals calcium, magnesium, potassium, sulfur, and zinc, sometimes have difficulty in converting the omega-6 fatty acid, linoleic acid, found in borage and other seed oils to the healthful prostaglandins.
Still others are thought to lack the necessary enzyme (catalyst) to make this conversion; particularly those afflicted with diabetes, asthma, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, alcoholism and the aged.
For those suffering from co-factor deficiencies, a broad spectrum multi-vitamin and mineral may be recommended with, perhaps, an oil supplement rich in Gamma Linolenic Acid. Individuals who may lack the proper enzyme system would require a GLA supplement in addition to the flax seed oil.

When considering an essential fatty acid supplement and deciding on either flax or borage seed oils, the most sensible solution may be a formulation of the two.
The combination of both flax and borage seed oil yields a true Omega-Twin by providing nature’s best of the omega-3 fatty acids in flax with the best of omega-6 fatty acids in Gamma Linolenic Acid rich borage oil.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) Supplements May Speed Weight Loss

A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study, published in the December 2000 issue of the Journal of Nutrition found that CLA reduces fat and preserves muscle tissue. According to the research project manager, an average reduction of six pounds of body fat was found in the group that took CLA, compared to a placebo group. The study found that approximately 3.4 grams of CLA per day is the level needed to obtain the beneficial effects of CLA on body fat.

Dr. Michael Pariza, who conducted research on CLA with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, reported in August 2000 to the American Chemical Society that “It doesn’t make a big fat cell get little. What it rather does is keep a little fat cell from getting big.” Pariza’s research did not find weight loss in his group of 71 overweight people, but what he did find was that when the dieters stopped dieting, and gained back weight, those taking CLA “were more likely to gain muscle and not fat.” In a separate study conducted at Purdue University in Indiana, CLA was found to improve insulin levels in about two-thirds of diabetic patients, and moderately reduced the blood glucose level and triglyceride levels.

CLA has been the subject of a variety of research in the past several years, and findings also suggest that some of the other benefits of CLA include the following:
• Increases metabolic rate — This would obviously be a positive benefit for thyroid patients, as hypothyroidism — even when treated — can reduce the metabolic rate in some people.
• Decreases abdominal fat — Adrenal imbalances and hormonal shifts that are common in thyroid patients frequently cause rapid accumulation of abdominal fat, so this benefit could be quite helpful.
• Enhances muscle growth — Muscle burns fat, which also contributes to increased metabolism, which is useful in weight loss and management.
• Lowers cholesterol and triglycerides — Since many thyroid patients have elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels, even with treatment, this benefit can have an impact on a thyroid patient’s health.
• Lowers insulin resistance — Insulin resistance is a risk for some hypothyroid patients, and lowering it can also help prevent adult-onset diabetes and make it easier to control weight.
• Reduces food-induced allergic reactions — Since food allergies can be at play when weight loss becomes difficult, this can be of help to thyroid patients.
• Enhances immune system — Since most cases of thyroid disease are autoimmune in nature, enhancing the immune system’s ability to function properly is a positive benefit.

The Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox

Please Note – Do Not Do this Flush while on HCG

The Jay Robb Fruit Flush

The Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox is the brainchild of clinical nutritionist and fitness expert Jay Robb, and is a great alternative to other detoxification diets out there that allow mainly fluids to be taken throughout the duration of the process. Unlike juice fasting, this detox diet relies on the consumption of fruits in achieving its guaranteed health benefits, including weight loss. And since the Fruit Flush lasts for only 3 shorts days, many people who have tried their hands on detoxifying themselves found it relatively easy to stick to the diet from beginning to end.

Line of Attack

Jay Robb believes that elimination of toxins in the body can be done with the mere consumption of a proper combination of foods. The Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox Diet utilizes the substances or contents of fruits and other natural food items in cleansing the body’s different systems. In addition, this detox diet enables one to efficiently lose excess weight of up to 9 pounds, according to its creator.

The nutritive content of fruits has many positive effects on the body, not just suitable for detoxification but for providing for a general wellbeing as well. Fruits are a good source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. They also provide quality carbohydrates – those of the low glycemic index type.

You see, not all carbohydrates are the same when it comes to their effect on the blood glucose level. The glycemic index, or GI, ranks carbohydrates based on how fast they trigger rise in the amount of sugar in the blood stream. Food sources with high glycemic index will trigger a dramatic spike, while a low glycemic index will only cause a small rise. For people who are trying to shed off excess pounds or maintain ideal weight, sticking to foods with low glycemic index is the way to go. By consuming carbohydrates with low glycemic index, one’s blood glucose level becomes stable, therefore maintaining increased energy levels and preventing hunger pangs.

The 3-Day Plan

Since this detox diet is designed by a clinical nutritionist, he understands that not only is it important for people to eat well-balanced meals all the time, but also need to get rid of accumulated toxins in the body from time to time. That is why the Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox is so designed: to effectively sweep toxins out of the body in as little time as possible, enabling the return to consuming well-balanced meals just as quickly. Basically the 3 days is composed of 1 pre-flush day and followed by 2 fruit-flush days.

• Pre-Flush Day – The pre-flush day consists of drinking protein shakes and ending it with a serving of vegetable salad with chicken, turkey or fish. From 8 am to 4 pm, anyone undergoing the Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox should consume a 6-ounce glass of protein shake every 2 hours. Protein shakes are easily available at health and fitness shops, and even on the internet. Also, it’s recommendable to purchase whey protein, as it is best absorbed by the body.

• Fruit-Flush Days – The fruit-flush days are on the second and last day of the Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox. From 8 am to 4 pm, one should consume a serving of fresh fruit every 2 hours. Then the day will be ended by having up to 6 cups of vegetable salad and a 6-ounce protein shake. However, on the fruit-flush days, note that no lean chicken, turkey or fish is served with the vegetable salad.

Remember to take lots of water throughout the Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox in order to hasten the elimination of toxins in the body. It is also important to drink 8-12 ounces glass of water one hour after every intake of protein shake, vegetable salad and fresh fruit servings. The following is a sample diet plan:

The Good and Bad

If you think about it, the Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox is a healthier alternative to other fad diets out there also claiming to get rid of poisonous substances in the body and weight loss. Well, the truth is, this diet is obviously much healthier because you are allowed to consume fresh servings of fruits and vegetables, plus it only lasts for 3 short days. When a detox diet needs to be carried out in just a matter of few days, one will find it easier and more motivating to complete it, and enjoy the benefits as well.

However, as with any other forms of diet – for detoxification, weight loss or a combination of both – there are certain side effects involved. For the Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox, one may experience hunger and fatigue because, despite of the frequent servings of fresh fruits and protein shake, their caloric contents are still relatively few to enable anyone on the detox diet to perform regular activities as efficiently as before getting on the diet. For the same reason, one must abstain from pairing the Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox with cardio and weight training workouts. Also, the advice of a doctor or any other health professional must be sought before trying the Fruit Flush 3-Day Detox, to ensure safety.

The dressing I make for the salad –

2 Tb yellow mustard,MCT oil,ACV, and a dash of sea salt, pepper, onion powder – mixed well then shook up in a closed container with the veggie salad ( I think it is Yummy!)

My thoughts on Fruit selection –

I think one thing about the fruit it what type of fruit to have. Since we have done hcg I made the decision to only eat fruit that was allowed when on P2. Apples and strawberries. I was too concerned that bananas etc would be to high in sugar for my system. I also base it on the glycemic index. When I first read pounds and inches knowing that it was written in the 60’s I thought it was interesting that Dr Simeon chose low glycemic fruits. Good call on his part 😉 I do feel really full from all the salad bulk that is taken in. So the 1st time I did it I was worried that I would gain so I was totally surprised that  I actually lost real well with it.

Thanks to Cherry V for originally sharing this flush with me.
